The AVA Multiband Compressor is a cross-format plugin from Harrison which supports the following platforms and formats:
The AVA Multiband Compressor is the latest implementation of Harrison’s renowned Multiband Compression algorithm, as used in ultra high-end post & film facilities worldwide. Now in the fourth generation, the Harrison Multiband Compression algorithm has been continuously tweaked by our customers in high-end music, film, broadcast, and video-post production.
Harrison’s reputation for “True Analog In-The-Box” sound is due to our unique development heritage: we first created an analog console processor and then converted the processor to digital while retaining the sound and character of the original analog console.
(Not Just) For Dance/EDM Producers
Harrison's Multiband Compressor algorithm has been expanded with a dedicated sidechain (key) input.
The sidechain input has a separate EQ which you can use to focus the effect. For example: if you are working with an assembled loop as your main rhythm (not a separate kick drum track), you can use the sidechain EQ to trigger the compression on the "kick" hits only.
Because it's a multiband processor, you can cross-feed the effect: pump the high-end of your track from the sidechain's bass, or vice versa. All of this, and more, can be achieved with the built-in sidechain's EQ.
There's also an "expand" mode which can reduce the level of a track except when triggered by the sidechain's level. You can use this to add some life to a boring synth arpeggio: by tweaking which frequencies are accentuated in the loop, you can apply different rhythmic feels to the synth sound, for example.
